Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU) is looking to fill a position that’s in pup-ular demand — its next safe digging “ambassadog!” The company is accepting applications for its top dog on safety now through April 7.

MGU customers can enter their precious pups to help spread an important safety message: Doggone it! Call 811 at least three days before you dig.

Contest rules

Here’s how MGU customers can enter their dogs into this year’s contest:

  1. Take a couple of photos of your dog digging or sitting in their favorite place to dig.
  2. Go to michigangasutilities.com to submit the photos before 11:59 p.m. April 7.

MGU will narrow the entries to a few fetching finalists before giving customers the ruff job of voting for one ulti-mutt winner. The top dog will be the star of the company’s safe digging awareness campaign throughout the next year.

Last year, MGU customers and dog lovers alike voted to make Raven Ruckus, a 1-year-old Wheaten Terrier mix from Petersburg, the company ambassadog. During her term, Raven Ruckus’ important message reached thousands of people across southern and western Michigan.
