Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU) is urging customers who are behind on natural gas bills to contact the company now to avoid disconnection. Winter Protection Plan agreements in place this winter have now ended.
Helping customers control costs
MGU works closely with its customers throughout the year to manage natural gas costs. The company provides payment plans and information about heating assistance to help customers who are behind on bills. Because of its efforts, about 2% of MGU customers are at risk for disconnection.

Customers who receive a disconnection notice must contact MGU to set up a payment arrangement and stay connected. MGU representatives are available 24 hours a day to assist customers.
Energy assistance options
Customers having difficulty with energy bills may be eligible to receive energy assistance or credits through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan Department of Treasury and Michigan Energy Assistance Program.
